World of Warcraft: Forever Trailer Shows Faint Lights Over Northrend

A Reddit user spotted red and blue lights over Northrend in the launch trailer, and Blizzard designers have discussed a possible future visit to the region.

World of Warcraft: Forever's launch trailer, released earlier this week ahead of the game's launch next week, includes faint red and blue lights over the northern landmass of Northrend, according to a Reddit user named Whatdididotho1 who pointed them out. The trailer, at around the 3:00 mark, shows a map of Azeroth with blue and red lights over Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, a cloudy Maelstrom in the middle, and the fainter lights to the north.

In an interview with IGN, principal game designer Kris Zierhut confirmed that Northrend, Pandaria and the Dark Portal exist in Forever. He said the game focuses on Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms and will add no new capital cities.

Lead Classic designer Tim Jones said a visit to Northrend would not use the Wrath of the Lich King version but could be an extremely hostile level 60 version of it. Northrend will not be featured at Forever's launch.

Northrend was originally depicted in Warcraft 3 and later featured in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
