Xbox Reveals Mythic Achievements, Its Answer to Platinum Trophy

Xbox has officially unveiled Mythic Achievements, a new achievement type that serves as its equivalent to PlayStation's Platinum Trophy. The feature was detailed in a post on Xbox Wire and is available starting today for members of the Xbox Insider program.

Mythics are earned by completing all original achievements for a game. Achievements added through DLC or updates do not count toward Mythic status, nor do they remove it once earned. Each Mythic will feature a heroic frame to distinguish it from standard achievements.

Alongside the new tier, Xbox is adding a Gaming tab to player profiles. This tab will help players view their achievements and track progress. Each game's achievement list will also include a progress bar showing completion progress.

The announcement follows a leak earlier this week that previewed the feature before Xbox's official reveal. The launch for Insider members marks the first public rollout of the system.

PlayStation first introduced Platinum Trophies in 2008, establishing a standard for completionist rewards that Xbox now directly addresses with Mythics.
