Microsoft has officially announced Xbox Mythic Achievements, and the feature is now available for Xbox Insiders to test. Mythic Achievements unlock after a player earns every original achievement for a game, giving long-time completionists a new tier to chase.
The system has been applied retroactively to eligible games that players already finished, including Xbox 360 titles. That means some existing completions will count toward Mythic status without players needing to start over.
Microsoft is also updating the main Achievements list with a progress bar that shows how close a player is to Mythic status. Xbox profiles will soon gain a new gaming tab for tracking Gamerscore milestones and Mythic Achievements, according to theverge.com.
The announcement follows a leak last week, when Mythic Achievements appeared in an Xbox PC app build along with a unique unlock sound. Weeks ago, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said Xbox would get a platinum trophy equivalent later this year.
