Fortune: Xbox plans three more layoff rounds
The reported waves are due this month, in November and in January 2027, and the plans could still change, according to Fortune.
Xbox is planning three further rounds of layoffs, the first of which is due this month, according to a Fortune report citing people familiar with the plans. Two more waves would follow, one in November and one in January 2027.
The people cited by Fortune said the plans could still change. Neither Microsoft nor Xbox has commented on the report.
The same report says Xbox is internally estimating that its next-generation Helix consoles will cost between $1,200 and $1,800.
Cuts follow earlier waves
In July, Xbox's first wave of layoffs cut over 1,600 jobs. In September, a further round eliminated 268 roles and moved Obsidian under Bethesda, with Rare and World's Edge joining Activision.
The remaining 1,600 planned cuts were to be spread across future quarters through early 2027, according to the earlier reporting.
Separately, The Coalition recently released Gears of War: E-Day to apparently softer than anticipated sales.
