Xbox owners report Microsoft emails pitching Best Buy trade-ins

Screenshots posted on X show emails offering up to $375 for an Xbox Series X and up to $200 for a Series S, sent from an official Xbox address.

Xbox owners say they have received emails from Microsoft suggesting it may be time to trade in their console at Best Buy, according to screenshots shared online and reported by Kotaku. The messages offer up to $375 back on an Xbox Series X and up to $200 back on an Xbox Series S.

According to the posts, the email asks whether the recipient has not played on their console in a while and points them toward moving on to Xbox on PC or another way to play Xbox games.

The first post came from the user Nintendeal on X on October 19, 2026, and multiple users on X and ResetEra said they had received similar messages. The email address visible in the screenshots uses the @e.xbox.com subdomain.

A Microsoft employee confirmed in 2025 that @e.xbox.com is an official email domain used by Microsoft and Xbox.

Microsoft and Best Buy also paired up in 2025 for an "AI That" campaign advertising the company's Copilot features, and Microsoft said that year that Best Buy had added Defender for Endpoint to connect with its existing Tanium endpoint management solution.
