Yacht Club says most of its team is now on a 3D game

Developers did not confirm the 3D project is Shovel Knight, as Mina the Hollower gets post-launch randomizer and speedrun features.

Yacht Club Games has confirmed that most of its developers are currently working on a 3D game, while also detailing post-release content planned for Mina the Hollower. The studio's developers discussed the project and the game's support roadmap in comments reported by Eurogamer on October 30, 2026.

Alec Faulkner did not confirm that the 3D project is a Shovel Knight title, saying only that most of the team is now working on a 3D game. Sean Velasco said Mina the Hollower has secured financial stability for the studio "for now."

The post-release content for Mina the Hollower will include expanded randomizer options, enemy and boss randomization, additional modifiers and features aimed at speedrunners.

Co-founder Nick Wozniac said splitting the team across two games was likely a mistake, and that keeping the team focused helped Mina the Hollower.

Earlier reporting on a 3D Shovel Knight

The focus on a 3D project follows earlier context: Velasco previously told Bloomberg that an unannounced 3D Shovel Knight game was halfway done before the studio put all hands on deck for Mina the Hollower. Earlier this year, Yacht Club Games launched Mina the Hollower, which it had described as a "make-or-break" moment for the studio, and the game sold over 500,000 copies in its first two weeks.
