Yoko Taro Says He Has No New Game Projects Planned
Yoko Taro said he has no current projects or plans for a new game, and that he keeps working out of fear of developing dementia in old age.
Yoko Taro said he has no current projects or plans to make a new game, according to ign.com. Asked about his next project, the director replied "nothing really," and said he is done with working and does not want to do it anymore.
Taro said he continues working because he would be in trouble with no income, and that he has considered retiring because his savings and pension would be enough. He also said fear of developing dementia in old age motivates him to keep working.
On the state of the industry, Taro said the options for people who want to make games have broadened, leading to tougher competition.
He said he is currently writing an untitled Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, with Keiichi Okabe providing the music. He made these comments during a talk session with Ender Lilies and Ender Magnolia director Keisuke Okabe at The Tenth Mosaic video game culture festival at the Tokyo French Institute last month.
