Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Adds Real Ocarina Support on Switch 2

Nintendo says players can play physical ocarina instruments into the Switch 2 remake, perform exact notes as Link, or hum into the controller microphone.

Nintendo has announced that physical ocarina instruments will interact with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Nintendo Switch 2, with Link performing the exact notes the player plays, according to Polygon. The feature turns a real instrument into a controller of sorts: what the player sounds out is what the character plays.

The remake also accepts other inputs. Players can hum notes into the Switch 2 controllers' microphone, or enter notes using dedicated buttons on the controller.

Alongside the game, the Zelda Notes section of the Nintendo Switch app will offer 11 options for the remake, among them Today's Record, Gossip Quests, Play Ocarina, and an Ocarina of Time Quiz.

The quiz contains 2,000 questions. It can be played once per day, with an extra attempt available for 20 Rupees.

Release date

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2 arrives on Nov. 5. In 2025, Nintendo released the Nintendo Switch app with Zelda Notes for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
