Nintendo cut added warp points from Ocarina of Time remake
Series producer Eiji Aonuma says the added fast-travel points made the team feel moments of discovery were being lost, so they were removed.
Nintendo has published the first two parts of an extensive developer Q&A on the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which launches on Nov. 5 for Nintendo Switch 2. In it, the team revealed that fast-travel warp points were built for the game and then taken out again before release, according to Polygon.
Series producer Eiji Aonuma asked the team to add warp points that did not exist in the original game, so players would have shortcuts across the world. After playing with them in place, the team concluded that the moments of discovery were being lost, and Aonuma had them removed.
The result is that the remake will not carry dozens of fast-travel points of the kind found in Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. What it will add is a dedicated sprint button, so players no longer have to spam the forward roll to move quickly.
Epona returns as well, and can be found at Lon Lon Ranch, as in the original.
