Ramen VR to Shut Down Zenith: Nexus Servers on December 18
Ramen VR said operating the Zenith servers at a loss is no longer feasible, and sales of The Last City DLC and the Zennies currency ended on October 21.
Ramen VR announced on October 21 that the servers for Zenith: Nexus will go offline permanently at 10:00 AM PST on Friday, December 18, 2026. The shutdown covers the game on Steam, Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, Rift and PlayStation VR2, according to gamerant.com.
Sales of The Last City DLC and the Zennies premium currency ended on October 21, though the DLC was still being sold on Steam as of October 22. The free Zenith: Nexus client will remain available to new players until November 18.
Existing players can continue playing and spend any remaining Zennies until the servers close. Ramen VR said operating the Zenith servers at a loss is no longer feasible.
From VR MMO launch to restructure
Zenith: The Last City launched in January 2022 as an anime open-world VR MMO, and in March 2022 Ramen VR said the game had become the No. 1-selling title on Steam overall and topped the Oculus Rift and Quest charts. Less than two months after launch, the studio closed a $35 million Series B funding round.
In 2024, Ramen VR restructured the game into Zenith: Nexus with two modes, Zenith: The Last City and the free-to-play Zenith: Infinite Realms. In July 2024, the studio announced that new content development would end, and the final major update, Season 4: Golden Isles, arrived in August 2024. On November 6, 2024, Ramen VR ended access on Quest 1 and original PS VR.
