Zeschuk: Saudi-led EA buyout 'final nail' for BioWare
The BioWare co-founder told 80LV that EA was already a different company before the studio's closure was announced last week.
BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk said the Saudi-led Public Investment Fund buyout of Electronic Arts was the final nail in the coffin for BioWare, in an interview with 80LV published on October 28, 2026. His remarks follow the announcement last week that the studio was closing.
Zeschuk said EA is now a completely different company. He expects the publisher to prioritize sports games and possibly Battlefield.
He described BioWare's output as unusual games that take a long time and are complicated, and contrasted that with yearly sports titles, which he called an easier business model.
Zeschuk left BioWare in 2012 and retired from the games industry alongside co-founder Ray Muzyka.
