About the revival
The original A Different World ran from 1987 to 1993 and was produced by NBC. Its first season centered on Denise Huxtable, played by Lisa Bonet, who left after that season; the show then followed Whitley Gilbert-Wayne (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) for the rest of its run.
The 2026 revival follows Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert. Its 10-episode first season explores the next generation of the cast as they head to the fictional Hillman College. The cast includes Maleah Joi Moon, Alijah Kai, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall, Kennedi Reece, and Chibuikem Uche, among others.
