A24's Elden Ring film reportedly nears $200 million budget

Alex Garland wrote and directed the adaptation, which would become the studio's most expensive film, per The Wall Street Journal.

A24's adaptation of Elden Ring, written and directed by Alex Garland, reportedly carries a production budget approaching $200 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. Collider reported on the figure.

If accurate, the budget would make the film the most expensive in A24's history. The studio's previous record was held by Marty Supreme, which reportedly cost between $60 million and $70 million.

The reported figure is significantly higher than the $100 million budget that had previously been rumored for the adaptation.

George R. R. Martin, author of A Song of Ice and Fire and a creator of Game of Thrones, is involved in the project. Since 2011 he has been involved in three of the most successful television shows ever made; his A Song of Ice and Fire novels The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring have seen lengthy delays.

A24 has not confirmed the budget figure.
