Alcon Launches TV Division, Plans The Book of Eli Series
Alcon has launched a new studio division to adapt its films for television, starting with a possible prequel series to The Book of Eli.
Alcon has launched a new studio division with plans to adapt several of its films into television series, and The Book of Eli is among the first projects lined up for a small-screen version, according to Deadline.
The planned series may serve as a prequel to the 2010 film rather than a direct sequel, though no release window or platform has been announced.
The Book of Eli was released in 2010 as a post-apocalyptic film starring Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman. At the end of that film, Eli reaches Alcatraz Island, recites the Bible from memory, and dies after dictating it.
Fans have demanded a sequel to The Book of Eli for over a decade, though this project is described as a potential prequel rather than a continuation.
