Sonic Cameo Surfaces in New Trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3
The blue hedgehog runs alongside Josh Gad's Chuck in the new trailer, ahead of the film's December 23 theatrical release.
A new trailer for The Angry Birds Movie 3 reveals a surprise cameo by Sonic the Hedgehog, according to Kotaku. In the footage, Sonic is seen running alongside Chuck, the yellow bird voiced by Josh Gad.
The Angry Birds Movie 3 is set to open in theaters on December 23. The film is the third entry in the animated series based on the Angry Birds games.
The cameo places a second video game icon inside the Angry Birds franchise. Sonic also has his own film series: Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is scheduled for theaters on March 19.
Cross-studio appearances
Paramount holds the rights to the third Angry Birds movie, having acquired them last year, while Sony distributed the first two films in the series. Paramount also produces the Sonic films.
Video game crossovers have been a talking point in animated releases this year: Fox McCloud, another game character, was a surprisingly prevalent figure in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie earlier this year.
