Avatar: Seven Havens Renewed Through Season 4 at NYCC

Avatar Studios and Paramount announced at New York Comic Con that Avatar: Seven Havens has been renewed through season 4, according to slashfilm.com. The studio also revealed a new prequel series titled Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos.

The renewal extends the next-avatar series well beyond its initial order. Avatar: Seven Havens was officially announced in 2025 with a two-season pickup at Nickelodeon, timed to the franchise's 20th anniversary. A single teaser image for the show was unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2025.

The franchise's return to screens has been building for years. It has been over 20 years since Avatar: The Last Airbender premiered. In 2026, the franchise got its first animated feature film, with Aang and his friends returning as young adults. Avatar: Seven Havens, the first new series in over a decade, was released and features the next avatar in the cycle.

The feature film's path to release was not smooth: Paramount delayed Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender multiple times before downgrading it from a theatrical release to Paramount+. Its first trailer dropped the same month as the film's release, after the film had leaked online months earlier.

The announcements arrive against a long history of scheduling shifts for the franchise on television. The first season of The Legend of Korra aired on Nickelodeon on Saturday mornings. Nickelodeon moved the second season to Friday evenings with little marketing. During season 3, the network changed the release schedule, then pulled the show from the air and moved the last five episodes to digital platforms. The fourth and final season was released entirely on the Nick website and other digital platforms in 2014.
