The Avengers #1 Puts Carol Danvers and Matt Murdock Face to Face
Marvel Comics' new series from Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto brings Captain Marvel and Daredevil together at Josie's Bar in Hell's Kitchen.
Marvel Comics has released The Avengers #1, a new series written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Marco Checchetto and colors by Matthew Wilson. The issue brings Carol Danvers and Matt Murdock into the same room, and nearly into something more.
In the issue, Carol Danvers is drinking at Josie's Bar in Hell's Kitchen when Matt Murdock arrives to check on her. The two lean in for a kiss before they are interrupted.
The moment lands as Captain Marvel is in a weakened state. Following the events of Marvel's Armageddon, which ran in October 2025, Danvers has lost ninety percent of her power and her ability to fly.
The pairing is not Marvel's first attempt at an Avengers romance. Years earlier, Scarlet Witch and the Vision became one of the team's definitive couples, while Tony Stark and She-Hulk's brief relationship in the late 2010s drew criticism.
A familiar bar, a new dynamic
Josie's Bar has long been tied to Daredevil's corner of the Marvel Universe, placing the new series' first meeting between the two heroes on Murdock's home turf. Screen Rant reported on the scene in the issue.
The Avengers #1 is available now from Marvel Comics.
