Disney released a recut version of Avengers: Endgame titled Avengers: Endgame: Encore, which premiered in theaters on Sept. 25, 2026. The Encore version includes two minutes of new scenes filmed alongside Avengers: Doomsday.
The new footage features an extended ending where Steve Rogers and Agent Carter are visited by a 2012 variant of Loki. Another scene shows Doctor Doom abducting Bruce Banner from a military complex after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. A third sequence depicts the Time Variance Authority detecting incursions between universes.
These additions connect directly to Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for release on Dec. 19, 2026. The new scenes were filmed alongside that production, according to the release details.
Background
In a Q&A after a screening of the re-release, screenwriter Stephen McFeely said Hawkeye almost died instead of Black Widow in the Soul Stone sacrifice scene. McFeely said Marvel's female employees objected to a version where Hawkeye died, telling him not to take Black Widow's heroic moment. He also said his biggest regret about the scene was not having space for more emotional resonance.
