Backrooms Crosses $400M, Becomes A24's Highest-Grossing Film

A24's Backrooms has crossed $400 million at the worldwide box office, making it the studio's highest-grossing movie ever. The film surpassed Marty Supreme, which grossed $192 million.

The horror feature opened to $81 million domestically, A24's largest opening weekend to date, and was produced for $10 million. It debuted on HBO Max on September 25, 2026.

Kane Parsons directed the film at age 20, adapting his own viral web series. He became the youngest director to debut a film at No. 1 at the box office.

Will Soodik wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell.
