Ghost Galaxy will launch a crowdfunding campaign in early 2027 for an updated edition of the 2008 tabletop game, licensed from Universal and Fantasy Flight Games.

Ghost Galaxy has announced a licensing agreement with Universal and Fantasy Flight Games for an updated edition of Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game. A crowdfunding campaign for the new version is scheduled to begin in early 2027, according to Screen Rant.

The publisher has not confirmed which platform will host the campaign. An official crowdfunding page is expected within the coming weeks.

Ghost Galaxy founder and CEO Christian T. Petersen is involved in the revival. Petersen founded Fantasy Flight Games in 1995, created Twilight Imperium and sold the company to Asmodee in 2014, before establishing Ghost Galaxy in 2019.

Details on new mechanics, returning expansions, pricing and release dates have not been disclosed.

A cult tabletop title

Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game was originally released in 2008 by Fantasy Flight Games, designed by Corey Konieczka. It received three expansions: Pegasus, Exodus and Daybreak. On BoardGameGeek the game holds a 7.7/10 rating based on nearly 38,000 user ratings.

The franchise began with the original television series in 1978, followed by Ronald D. Moore's relaunch, which ran from 2004 to 2009. In 2019, a Peacock revival with Sam Esmail attached was announced; the streamer abandoned the project in July 2024 after roughly five years in development.
