Baywatch Remake Among Scripted Series Shopped at MIPCOM
Deadline's Deadline Dozen list features a Baywatch remake from Fremantle and Fox, Lionsgate's The Interrogator and StudioCanal's Shaka iLembe at MIPCOM.
Three scripted series are being shopped to international buyers at MIPCOM this year, according to Deadline's Deadline Dozen list of titles in the market. They include a Baywatch remake from Fremantle and Fox, Lionsgate's The Interrogator and StudioCanal's Shaka iLembe.
The Baywatch reboot is being remade with an all-new cast and is showrun by Matt Nix, with McG executive producing and directing the series premiere episode. Stephen Amell leads the cast as Hobie Buchannon. Fox holds domestic rights, and Fremantle has already sold the series to a number of key Prime Video territories.
Lionsgate is shopping The Interrogator, which stars Stephen Fry as former MI6 agent Conrad Henry. The series is heading for the 2026/27 broadcast U.S. season, with Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie as showrunners.
StudioCanal is presenting Shaka iLembe at MIPCOM.
Background
Baywatch originally ran for nearly 250 episodes across 11 seasons and made stars of David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson and Alexandra Paul three decades ago. The Interrogator received a straight-to-series order back in February, aided by input from Fire Country's Harper. Deadline profiled Shaka iLembe this time last year, when it had broken viewing records on MultiChoice but no distributor had acquired the rights.
