Prime Video Sets Bosch Prequel Series Start of Watch for January 10, 2027

Cameron Monaghan plays a 26-year-old Harry Bosch in 1992 Los Angeles, with an entirely new cast for the Prime Video series.

Prime Video announced a new series titled Bosch: Start of Watch, which will premiere on January 10, 2027. The announcement confirms a prequel set decades before the events of the existing Bosch series.

The story is set in 1992 in Los Angeles, where Harry Bosch is a 26-year-old rookie. Cameron Monaghan plays the young Bosch, and the series features an entirely new cast and time period.

According to the announced premise, Bosch is drawn into a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption.

Where it fits in the Bosch timeline

Viewers first met Harry Bosch on Prime Video in 2015, in the series Bosch, which ran for seven seasons. Titus Welliver played the character across that run.

A follow-up series, Bosch: Legacy, was released in 2022 and concluded after three seasons, airing its final season last year. The franchise has also expanded with the spin-off Ballard, in which Maggie Q plays detective Renee Ballard.

Bosch: Start of Watch marks the first entry to recast the lead role and move the story to an earlier era. collider.com reported the announcement.
