Bradley Cooper is reportedly set to star as Duke in the next G.I. Joe movie, which Danny McBride will write and direct, according to a report from Deadline.
The project marks a new live-action installment for the Hasbro franchise, with McBride taking on both scripting and directing duties.
Duke is a central character in the G.I. Joe roster. Channing Tatum previously played the role in 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and had a supporting part in 2013's G.I. Joe: Retaliation, in which Duke was killed during a Cobra attack.
That earlier live-action cycle also included 2013's Retaliation, following The Rise of Cobra, and the prequel Snake Eyes, which did not feature Duke.
As for the franchise's crossover plans, the previous G.I. Joe and Transformers film is no longer in development, according to the report. The crossover had been teased in the post-credits scene of 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, when Anthony Ramos's character was recruited into G.I. Joe.
Cooper previously led the 2010 big-screen version of The A-Team as Face.
