Bradley Cooper to Play Duke in Paramount's G.I. Joe Reboot
Bradley Cooper will star as field commander Duke in Paramount's G.I. Joe movie, directed by Danny McBride and uncoupled from Transformers.
Bradley Cooper is set to star as field commander Duke in Paramount's upcoming G.I. Joe movie, the studio has confirmed. Danny McBride is directing the film and wrote the screenplay with Jeff Fradley and John Carcieri.
Paramount also confirmed that the new G.I. Joe film is uncoupled from the Transformers franchise, making it a standalone project rather than a crossover.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, and Zev Foreman are producing for Hasbro Entertainment.
The casting marks a major role for Cooper, a 12-time Oscar nominee known for A Star Is Born, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Sniper. He is currently in production on an Ocean's 11 prequel, which he is directing and starring in alongside Margot Robbie and Monica Barbaro.
McBride, meanwhile, has directed the pilot of HBO's The Righteous Gemstones and episodes of Vice Principals.
The G.I. Joe project is one of several in the works at Paramount, alongside a Days of Thunder sequel starring Tom Cruise and Anne Hathaway, a World War Z sequel, a new Paranormal Activity film with James Wan, a new Star Trek project, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and a Call of Duty movie. A G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover was teased at the end of 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
