Luke Thompson says Bridgerton season 5 filming has wrapped
The Benedict Bridgerton actor said the season went well and will center on Francesca and Michaela ahead of Netflix's 2027 release plan.
Filming on Bridgerton season 5 has been completed, cast member Luke Thompson said, according to Screen Rant. Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, said the season went well.
He also said the new season will center on Francesca and Michaela while Benedict remains part of the story. Francesca is played by Hannah Dodd and Michaela Stirling by Masali Baduza.
Netflix still has the season slated for a 2027 release, with no more specific date given. Tega Alexander, Jacqueline Boatswain and Gemma Knight Jones join the cast for season 5.
The series, produced by Shonda Rhimes and adapted from Julia Quinn's books, first debuted on Netflix in 2022. Filming on season 5 began in March 2026.
Previous seasons have arrived at different intervals after production ended: season 1 aired about 10 months after filming wrapped, season 2 about four months after, and season 3 had a 14-month post-production window. Season 4 wrapped filming in June 2025 and released its first four episodes in January 2026. Netflix has already renewed the show for season 6, and in October 2026 the streamer announced that a Violet Bridgerton prequel is in development.
