Busan Panel Showcases Kling AI Films From Four Asian Directors

Four filmmakers presented AI-assisted projects at the Asian Contents & Film Market panel held Sunday during the 31st Busan International Film Festival.

Four Asian filmmakers presented films and series made with Kling AI at a panel titled "New Cinematic Possibilities: Reimagining Filmmaking with Kling AI," held Sunday at the Asian Contents & Film Market during the 31st Busan International Film Festival, according to Deadline.

South Korean director and writer Sung-Soo Kim screened his short film Worm Train, made using Kling AI. Kim said he began the project in February, paused in March over a cramped subway scene, and resumed in late September with the Kling 4.0 model.

Sang Wook Lee, who leads MBC C&I's AI section, presented Rendering Love, a Kling AI-powered microdrama series co-developed with Barunson E&A. Harry Hyun, director of the Netflix Korean hit Crypton Man and founder of MooAm, introduced a new IP titled Natasha, described as a 100-minute period romance thriller inspired by Baek Seok's poem.

Chinese director Wei Li discussed Born of the Tides, a long-form feature animation that incorporates AI tools into traditional animation methods.

Background

Worm Train was inspired by Franz Kafka's "The Metamorphosis," in which the protagonist must still go to work after transforming. Kim's past commercial hits include Musa and 12.12: The Day. Rendering Love is a K-pop romantic comedy microdrama following the virtual idol group LEVRIT, co-developed with Barunson E&A, the production company behind Parasite.
