Carrie star responds to Christine season 2 fan theory
Alison Thornton, who plays Chris Hargensen, said she likes the idea that season 2 could fold in Stephen King's Christine and trusts Mike Flanagan's direction.
Alison Thornton, who plays Chris Hargensen in Prime Video's Carrie series, has responded to a fan theory that a second season would remake or incorporate Stephen King's Christine, according to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Thornton said she likes the theory and trusts showrunner Mike Flanagan with whatever direction season 2 takes, joking that she could play a car.
The theory grew out of the Carrie season 1 finale, in which Chris is last seen in a red car with Billy Nolan before Carrie crushes the vehicle with her powers. King's Christine, a story about a sentient car, was first adapted for film by John Carpenter in 1983.
Prime Video has not yet renewed Carrie for a second season, so no plans for a follow-up have been confirmed by the streamer.
Flanagan's King track record
Flanagan reimagined King's 1974 novel Carrie as a series for Prime Video. He has previously directed and written adaptations of King's Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep and The Life of Chuck, and is directing a new adaptation of The Mist and developing The Dark Tower as a TV show for Amazon MGM Studios. He has said he envisions Carrie running for three seasons.
As of the article's writing, Prime Video's Carrie holds an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes and sits at No. 1 on the streamer's Top 10 TV shows chart.
