Prime Video renews Carrie for season 2 after October premiere
The Stephen King adaptation, which debuted on October 7, 2026, returns for a second season while Mike Flanagan's Dark Tower scripts are already written.
Prime Video has renewed Carrie, its adaptation of the Stephen King novel, for a second season, roughly two weeks after the series premiered on October 7, 2026, according to screenrant.com. The renewal comes even though the streamer originally billed the show as a miniseries.
Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White in the series, which holds an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. No official plot details for the second season have been revealed.
Showrunner and director Mike Flanagan said before the premiere that he envisioned Carrie as a three-season show. Flanagan kept the pig's blood and prom-night massacre climax but changed the ending, keeping Carrie alive and introducing other superpowered women.
A connected King universe
Flanagan has already written the first season's scripts for a television adaptation of The Dark Tower, which King has approved. Flanagan confirmed that Carrie and The Dark Tower are connected; in the finale, Margaret White notes that many people carry a little shine, a reference to The Shining.
King has called Flanagan the best adapter of his work. Flanagan previously directed the films Gerald's Game (2017), Doctor Sleep (2019) and The Life of Chuck (2025).
