The two actors have been cast in the lead roles of the pilot inspired by the Disney World EPCOT attraction.
Catherine Laga'aia and Deacon Phillippe are set to star in the Disney+ pilot Spaceship Earth, according to Deadline. Character details for the pilot are being kept under wraps.
The project is inspired by the Disney World EPCOT attraction of the same name. Jason Fuchs and Michael Waldron wrote the pilot, with Fuchs serving as showrunner, and Lee Toland Krieger is directing. 20th Television is producing.
The project was announced in August. Laga'aia previously co-starred in Prime Video's limited series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart and will next be seen leading the thriller Crashout from filmmaker Nick Annas.
Phillippe is currently in production on Better Than the Movies, a Netflix rom-com based on the bestselling YA novel by Lynn Painter. He wrapped his first leading role in Brother Save Us, an indie drama from Jesse Behrenwald.
