CBS Previews Einstein at NYCC 2026 Ahead of Series Debut
CBS and the cast of Einstein showed footage of the police procedural to New York Comic Con attendees, with the series set to air in 2026.
CBS and the cast of Einstein previewed the series for attendees at New York Comic Con 2026 on October 15, 2026, according to screenrant.com. The police procedural is scheduled to air in 2026.
Einstein is a 2026 adaptation of the 2017 German series of the same name. The American version follows Princeton Professor Lewis Einstein, played by Matthew Gray Gubler, who assists detective Teri London, played by Melissa Fumero, in solving homicide cases.
The project has been in development at CBS since 2019. In 2018, Tariq Jahil pitched an Einstein adaptation to NBC, but the plan fell through, and the project moved to CBS the following year with Andy Breckman set to write and Randy Zisk to direct.
In 2020, it was announced that the new series would be a gender-swapped version of the original, with Lauren Gussis serving as writer, an idea that was eventually dropped. In 2024, the series was being re-developed for CBS with Breckman and Zisk returning, and a pilot was ordered in August 2024. CBS greenlit the show in April 2025.
Rosa Salazar, originally cast as the detective opposite Lewis, backed out and was replaced by Melissa Fumero. After another delay, the series was pushed to the 2026-2027 schedule. The original German series, based on a 2015 German film, ran for three seasons.
