CBS is developing a third spinoff of its hit drama Fire Country, a medical series tentatively titled Edge Med set in Edgewater. The project has been in development since the spring, but the network has not yet given it a series order.
The plan would have Noah Reid guest star in season 2 of Sheriff Country, the spinoff CBS launched in 2025 after introducing Morena Baccarin's character on Fire Country. If the medical drama moves forward, Reid would become a series regular. His potential character is Dr. Hudson 'Hud' Henshaw.
Fire Country premiered on CBS in 2022 with Max Thieriot starring as Bode Donovan-Leone. The network paired Fire Country and Sheriff Country on Friday nights, and Boston Blue was one of CBS' top new shows of the 2025-2026 TV schedule.
NBC, meanwhile, has aired its One Chicago block on Wednesday nights since 2018, combining Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Med. Its fall 2026 schedule includes season 15 of Chicago Fire, season 14 of Chicago P.D., and season 12 of Chicago Med. The One Chicago universe has run for more than 770 episodes across 38 seasons.
