The launch episode of Celebrity Traitors Season 2 drew 8.9 million viewers, peaking just over 9 million, the BBC has announced. The 75-minute opener achieved a share of nearly 55% of people watching TV at the time, making it a record for the opening episode of The Traitors in the UK across both celebrity and civilian versions.
The companion show Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked drew 3 million viewers. Celebrity Traitors Season 2 will air every Thursday and Friday night at 8 p.m. GMT for the coming month.
Last year's Celebrity Traitors Season 1 kicked off with 3 million fewer viewers, and the opener of the civilian Traitors from earlier this year was similarly far behind. The final episode of the civilian Traitors from January was the most-watched episode of TV this year excluding sport.
