Christopher Abbott Tried Remote Viewing for Professor X Role

Christopher Abbott says he practiced remote viewing to prepare for Professor X in Marvel's X-Men reboot, describing a Long Island experiment on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Christopher Abbott is taking research for his role as Professor X in Marvel's X-Men reboot in an unexpected direction. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor said he has practiced remote viewing to prepare for the part.

Abbott described one exercise in which a friend drew a picture inside a house on Long Island while he tried to copy it mentally. He said he came close to sketching a large painting in the room.

He was clear about where he draws the line, though: Abbott said he will not go method and try to fully become psychic.

Marvel announced during San Diego Comic-Con that Abbott would play Charles Xavier in its X-Men reboot. The film is set for release on May 5, 2028, with filming likely to begin next year.

Jake Schreier is directing, with Joanna Calo and Lee Sung Jin co-writing the script. Sadie Sink debuted as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and will reprise her role for the X-Men film.

At SDCC this year, Marvel also announced Kit Connor as Cyclops, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister. It has been reported that Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost and Asa Germann will portray Angel.
