Chunghwa Telecom Unveils 10 Investments, Stakes in Two Studios
The slate, announced at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest, includes four scripted series, two films and a roughly 50-show tour by Shallow Levée.
Chunghwa Telecom announced 10 new content investments spanning film, TV and music, along with equity stakes in two production companies, at its Chunghwa Telecom Content Slate and Partnership Showcase, according to Variety. The event was held at the Taiwan Creative Content Fest on November 7, 2026.
The scripted series on the slate are Gunshot, Yesterday's Daughter, Tomorrow's Mother, Guides to the World Below and C'est la Vie. Gunshot is a police crime drama made with PTS Taigi TV and S11 Partners, while Guides to the World Below is a fantasy adventure adapted from a Taiwanese comic. C'est la Vie is an urban drama with Esther Liu as executive producer.
On the unscripted side, the company invested in the cooking competition show Next Z Chef. Film investments include the horror project Demon of the East: Black Condo and Call of Lobster, which won the Chunghwa Telecom Award at TCCF's pitching sessions in 2024 and was selected for the Culture Ministry's first international flagship cohort under its Great Voyage Project.
The slate also covers Speak in Silence, an Asian tour by Taiwanese indie band Shallow Levée running about 50 shows in Taiwan and eight other countries. Chunghwa Telecom and Chunghwa Digital Cultural and Creative took equity positions in DaMou Entertainment and Horiza Creations, the latter of which uses community engagement and crowdfunding to gauge audience interest.
Taiwan's Minister of Culture Li Yuan attended the event. Chunghwa Telecom operates MOD IPTV and the Hami Video streaming platform, which together have more than 3 million subscribers.
The company has sponsored the Taiwan Creative Content Fest for five consecutive years. Chunghwa-backed films Arrested Memory and The Photo From 1977 received a combined 12 nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards.
