Clockwork Label Survives Paramount Merger, Joins Skydance
Deadline reports Warner Bros.' Clockwork film label will move to the newly merged Paramount-Warner Bros. company, with its first release set for October 16.
Clockwork, the film label announced by Warner Bros., will survive the studio's merger with Paramount and become part of the newly merged company known as Skydance, according to Deadline.
The outlet reported that Skydance views Clockwork as a "blooming rose" and intends to keep the label intact after the merger closes.
Clockwork's first theatrical release will be a 4K restoration of the director's cut of Ken Russell's The Devils, arriving on October 16.
Warner Bros. announced the launch of Clockwork earlier this year as a contemporary film label focused on lower-budget films and restoring classic titles from the Warner Bros. library. The label was launched by Warner Bros. Motion Picture heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy together with former Neon chief marketing officer Christian Parkes; De Luca and Abdy will exit Warner Bros. after the merger closes.
There had been talk that Paramount might scrap the Clockwork label before it had a chance, and rumors claimed De Luca and Abdy hoped for that outcome so they could take it independent.
