Coyote vs. Acme Tops Streaming Charts After VOD Release
The film reaches #1 on streaming charts in October 2026, years after Warner Bros. Discovery shelved it.
Coyote vs. Acme has become the #1 movie on streaming charts in October 2026, following its release on multiple video-on-demand platforms, according to Screen Rant. The film was released in 2026.
The movie, which mixes animation and live action around the Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote, is now available to rent or buy digitally across several VOD services, where it has drawn the largest audience of any title on the charts this month.
A Long Road to Release
In 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery shelved Coyote vs. Acme for tax write-off purposes after filming was already completed, a decision that sparked controversy in Hollywood. The DCEU's Batgirl movie had been scrapped during post-production before Coyote vs. Acme was shelved.
Ketchup Entertainment later acquired the rights to the film. Dave Green directed Coyote vs. Acme, and James Gunn produced it and worked on the story with Jeremy Slater and Samy Burch. Since 2024, Gunn has been co-running DC Studios with Peter Safran, building out the DC Universe for Warner Bros. Discovery, after finishing his run with the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
