Crave Sets Next Season of Heated Rivalry for 2027
Bell Media's Crave also aims for 6 million subscribers by the end of 2028, as distributor Sphere Abacus pushes the new Canadian original Yaga.
Crave has set 2027 for the next season of Heated Rivalry, the Canadian streamer's ice hockey romance that became a global hit. The news was reported by Deadline.
Alongside the returning series, Crave and distributor Sphere Abacus are selling a slate of Canadian originals internationally, led by Yaga. That series stars Hudson Williams and Carrie-Anne Moss and is set in a coastal town called Whittock.
Yaga has already been pre-sold to AMC in the United States, Sky in the United Kingdom and HBO Max in continental Europe. Sphere Abacus is handling international sales for Yaga and other Crave shows, with additional Crave titles Slo Pitch, Meatballs and Bulges also headed abroad.
Subscriber targets
Crave's growth plans run alongside that programming push. The service is targeting 6 million subscribers by the end of 2028, and presence in half of Canadian TV homes by the end of 2029. In Bell Media's most recent results, in October 2025, Crave recorded just over 5 million subscribers.
Bell Media's deal for HBO programming has also been extended into the 2030s. Sean Cohan joined Bell Media in late 2023 with goals of making globally successful Canadian shows; earlier, Sullivan's Crossing, distributed by Fremantle, had gone to The CW in the U.S. and Netflix around the world before Heated Rivalry's rise.
