Crystal Lake Preview Shows Jason's Drowning Before Premiere
Peacock's Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake debuts October 15, 2026; showrunner Brad Caleb Kane asks fans to hold their theories.
A preview clip from the opening episode of Peacock's Crystal Lake has been released ahead of the series' premiere, revisiting Jason Voorhees' drowning in the town lake and Pam Voorhees' reaction.
The Friday the 13th prequel series is set to debut on Peacock on October 15, 2026. Linda Cardellini plays Pamela Voorhees, the single mother of Jason.
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane also posted an Instagram message telling fans to wait for the show to answer their questions before forming theories. The post included a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze from the 1997 film Batman & Robin.
Kane previously described the series as a paranoid '70s psychological thriller with slasher DNA in comments to EW in December 2025, and said Cardellini's portrayal of Pamela would impress viewers. Earlier in summer 2026, he told EW the show dives into Pam's psychology and her unraveling after the events of the original movie.
According to Bleeding Cool, the show moved its time period from the '50s to the '70s to reflect the pop-culture era the Friday the 13th films came from.
