Crystal Lake's Young Jason: 4.5-Hour Makeup, Then 90 Minutes
Callum Vinson, 12, plays young Jason Voorhees in Peacock's Crystal Lake prequel, premiering October 15. Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane says the look departs from the 1980 film.
Callum Vinson, age 12, plays young Jason Voorhees in the Peacock prequel series Crystal Lake, and he wears prosthetics for the role. Vinson said the initial makeup process took four and a half hours, a duration that was later reduced to 90 minutes, according to gizmodo.com.
Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane said the series aims for a more grounded and updated look for Jason than Tom Savini's 1980 design for Friday the 13th.
Kane also said the show features a mask, but not a hockey mask. It will not be a mask different from ones fans have seen, he said.
Crystal Lake premieres October 15 on Peacock.
Earlier Jason designs
In 1980, Tom Savini worked on the effects for Friday the 13th. Corey Feldman's character approximates Jason's misshapen baldness at the climax of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
