Daily Wire's 'Confession' Gets Teaser, Warsaw Premiere Date

The Daily Wire has released a first teaser and a first-look image for its film 'Confession,' directed by Vaclav Marhoul, according to Deadline. The film, written by Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro, stars Rob Lowe, James Franco, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Nick Nolte, Richard Brake, Emile Hirsch, Brad Dourif and Dean Norris.

The story is set in Stalin's 1938 Moscow, where a former literature professor, Alexei (Lowe), is arrested and interrogated at Lubyanka Prison by his former student Vladimir (Franco). 'Confession' is set to world premiere at the Warsaw Film Festival on October 15.

The plan is for the film to open in 100 US theaters for one night on November 11, the same day it debuts on The Daily Wire's streaming platform. It was produced by Dallas Sonnier for Bonfire Legend, Travis Mills, Shapiro and Sean Calvano.

The film was shot entirely on 35mm film, with production based at Santa Clarita Studios. Cinematography is by Peter Menzies Jr., production design by Vincent Reynaud, and makeup and prosthetics by Oscar-winner Jeff Dawn.

Lowe said the film is an incredible story of the human spirit.

Background

A few weeks ago it emerged that the Daily Wire had made an under-the-radar film by Czech director Vaclav Marhoul, whose 2019 Holocaust film 'The Painted Bird' drew attention on the festival circuit. The Daily Wire's recent films 'Run Hide Fight' and 'Infidels' with Jonathan Majors, and the in-production 'Pawn Shop' with Danny Trejo, both attracted criticism and faced temporary shutdowns.
