Danny Boyle's Ink Sets U.S. Cinema Release for December 11

Netflix will open Danny Boyle's Ink in U.S. cinemas on December 11 before streaming it on January 8, Deadline reports.

Danny Boyle, James Graham and Jack O'Connell appeared at Deadline's Contenders London event on October 10, 2026, to discuss the making of the film Ink and its release plans through Studiocanal and Netflix, according to Deadline.

Netflix will release Ink in U.S. cinemas on December 11, 2026, before it arrives on the Netflix streaming service on January 8, 2027. In the UK, StudioCanal will handle the theatrical release on January 8, 2027.

Studiocanal fully financed the film and will release it theatrically in Italy, the UK, France, Germany, Poland, the Benelux, Australia and New Zealand.

Cast and production

Boyle directs from a screenplay by Graham, based on his Tony-nominated play Ink. O'Connell stars as The Sun newspaper editor Larry Lamb, with Guy Pearce as Rupert Murdoch and Claire Foy as Jules Davies. Boyle produces alongside Tessa Ross and Michael Ellenberg.

Ink is set in 1969 and follows how rising media tycoon Rupert Murdoch acquires UK newspaper The Sun and how his partnership with editor Larry Lamb turns the paper into Britain's most influential and at-times controversial tabloid. The film previously opened the Venice Film Festival.
