Dark Matter Season 2 Outpaces Novel by Midpoint

Dark Matter season 2 has already moved beyond the events of Blake Crouch's original novel by its halfway point, according to Screen Rant. Season 1 adapted the entire book, which premiered on Apple TV+ on May 7, 2024.

Crouch, who serves as creator, showrunner, and writer on the series, has a three-season plan for the show. That roadmap means season 2 is now charting new territory rather than following the source material.

Episode 4 of season 2 includes a major twist, and by episode 5 the other Jasons are no longer a constant threat. In the novel, Jason2 died at the end, but the series has continued past that point.

What This Means for the Series

With the novel fully adapted in season 1 and a three-season vision in place, Dark Matter's second season is expanding its own mythology on Apple TV+.
