Diana Unheard Producers Detail Never-Before-Heard Royal Tapes in First Interview
Love Monday TV's Kerene Barefield speaks to Deadline about the three-part documentary, which draws on roughly 5 hours of Diana recordings.
The producers of the three-part documentary Diana Unheard have given their first interview about the series, which uses never-before-heard audio of Princess Diana. Love Monday TV's creative director Kerene Barefield spoke to Deadline about the project.
The producers had access to all of the tapes, about 5 hours in total. The documentary is split into three parts, titled Got To Get Out, You're On Your Own, and Time Is Precious.
Andrew Morton, Michael O'Mara and James Colthurst gave the green light to use the audio, and all 3 appear in Diana Unheard.
The recordings were made in 1991 with Diana's friend James Colthurst. They formed the basis of Morton's book Diana: Her True Story, published in 1992, though Diana's involvement in the book was not revealed until after her death in 1997.
Segments of the tapes previously aired in Nat Geo's 2017 documentary Diana: In Her Own Words. The entities listed in connection with the production also include ITV, Channel 5 and Prime Video.
Diana Unheard has no announced release date.
