Donna Murphy Cheers Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel in Live-Action 'Tangled'
Donna Murphy, who voiced Mother Gothel in the 2010 animated film, says she congratulated Kathryn Hahn before the casting was announced.
Donna Murphy, who voiced Mother Gothel in Disney's 2010 animated film "Tangled," said she is thrilled that Kathryn Hahn will carry on the role in the studio's live-action remake. Murphy made the comments in an interview with PEOPLE, according to comingsoon.net.
Murphy recalled that she and Hahn worked together on a pilot years ago with Jeff Goldblum, and said she has been a fan of Hahn since then. She added that she congratulated Hahn shortly before the casting became official, calling her a rockstar and predicting she will "kill it" in the part.
Asked whether she had any advice for Hahn, Murphy declined, saying her successor does not need any.
Hahn has spoken about the role herself, telling PEOPLE she never thought she would star in a movie musical at this point in her career, and that rehearsals in Spain make it feel like she is in "Fame." She also said the part has challenged her physically, noting that natural grace and agility do not come easily to her.
