Down Cemetery Road Season 2 to Adapt Two Mick Herron Novels
Apple TV said the second season will draw on The Last Voice You Hear and Smoke and Whispers, with 12 new actors joining the cast.
Apple TV has revealed that season 2 of Down Cemetery Road will adapt two Mick Herron novels, The Last Voice You Hear and Smoke and Whispers, according to screenrant.com. The streamer also announced twelve new cast members for the season.
In the new season, Zoë Boehm, the private investigator played by Emma Thompson, investigates a woman falling in front of a train, a case that leads her and art conservationist Sarah Trafford, played by Ruth Wilson, into black market antiquities and a serial killer.
The two books being adapted are the second and fourth entries in Herron's Zoë Boehm series, published in 2004 and 2009 respectively, meaning the adaptation skips 2006's Why We Die.
The new cast members are Martin Clunes, Fionn Whitehead, Paterson Joseph, Aasiya Shah, Dimitri Leonidas, Paul Chahidi, Liz White, Amanda Abbington, Jeff Rawle, Amber Grappy, Yali Topol Margalith and Ashley McGuire, who also appears in Slow Horses.
No premiere date for season 2 has been released. The first season, which adapted Herron's novel of the same name and premiered on October 29, 2025, consists of eight episodes and is available on Apple TV. The series was renewed shortly after the first season ended.
