The upcoming installment follows Book 8, A Parade of Horribles, which was released in May 2026. During development, that volume was known as Carl's Book of Boom.
Dinniman intends the next book to conclude the main Dungeon Crawler Carl story. The finale is planned as Book 9 split across two physical volumes, with the story centering on the Twelfth Floor and the Celestial Ascendancy.
