Ed Helms Wraps Lead Role in Sports Comedy 'The Streak'

Ed Helms has finished filming his lead role in Steve Byrne's sports comedy The Streak, about Caltech's 2011 basketball team, marking Lion Forge's live-action debut.

Ed Helms has wrapped his lead role in the sports comedy The Streak, the film's producers have announced. The movie is written and directed by Steve Byrne and tells the story of Coach Oliver Eslinger and the 2011 Caltech men's basketball team.

Nina Dobrev, Natasha Rothwell, Tone Bell, Peter Billingsley and Joe DeRosa also star in the film, which shot in St. Louis and the surrounding areas.

The project marks Lion Forge Entertainment's expansion into live-action production. The company was founded in 2019 after spinning out from Lion Forge Comics, and won an Oscar for its animated short Hair Love in 2020. Its animated fantasy series Iyanu aired its second season earlier this year on HBO Max and Cartoon Network.

Helms most recently starred in The Stunt Driver, which premiered at TIFF and released in September. Byrne made his feature directorial debut with The Opening Act, a 2020 comedy starring Jimmy O. Yang.
