Frank Caliendo parodies Nicolas Cage's Madden clip as 'The Caliendo Cut'

The impressionist re-dubbed a Prime Video preview of David O. Russell's Madden, which stars Nicolas Cage and arrives November 18.

Frank Caliendo posted a voiceover parody of a scene from David O. Russell's Madden, re-dubbing the footage with his John Madden impression and calling it "The Caliendo Cut", according to Bleeding Cool. The original clip, released by Prime Video, shows Nicolas Cage as John Madden using a marker and a clear screen to walk through a play during a game alongside Pat Summerall, played by Joel Murray.

Caliendo built his version on that same sequence, replacing the dialogue with his take on the coach and broadcaster's voice.

The film stars Nicolas Cage, Christian Bale, Kathryn Hahn, John Mulaney, Sienna Miller, Shane Gillis and Miles Burns.

Madden premieres in select theaters and on Prime Video on November 18.

The impression that preceded the film

Caliendo was known for his John Madden impression during his run on Fox's Mad TV from 2001 to 2007. John Madden died in 2021; he coached the Oakland Raiders to a 103-32-7 record and won Super Bowl XI before becoming a broadcaster. Pat Summerall, his longtime broadcast partner, has also died.
