Universal's Frankenstein Legacy Collection arrives on 4K UHD

The eight-film set follows last month's seven-film Wolf Man collection and gathers earlier 4K restorations in one box.

Universal Home Entertainment has released the Frankenstein Complete Legacy Collection on 4K UHD for this Halloween season, according to Collider. The set arrives after last month's 4K UHD release of The Wolf Man Complete Legacy Collection.

The Frankenstein box holds eight films: Frankenstein (1931), The Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Son of Frankenstein, The Ghost of Frankenstein, House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein and Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man.

The Wolf Man Complete Legacy Collection, released last month, contains seven films upgraded to 4K UHD: The Wolf Man (1941), Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, House of Frankenstein, House of Dracula, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Werewolf of London and She-Wolf of London.

The two sets include extensive special features only on Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein and The Wolf Man. They collect previously released 4K restorations together in one box for the first time.

Older home video editions

The Universal Monsters Legacy Collections were previously issued on DVD and Blu-ray, and many of the films in the two new sets had already appeared individually in 4K. Frankenstein (1931), directed by James Whale and starring Colin Clive, was released on November 21, 1931, and runs 70 minutes.
