Matt Damon and David Letterman Make Silent Cameos in The Gilded Age Season 4 Premiere

The two appear as men crossing a street together in the HBO drama's Season 4 opener, a scene in which neither character speaks.

HBO's The Gilded Age returned for its fourth season with two unexpected faces: Matt Damon and David Letterman, who made silent cameo appearances in the premiere as two men crossing a street together, according to Deadline.

Damon's character wears a top hat, a white shirt with an ascot, a long coat and slacks, along with sideburns and a fuzzy mustache. Letterman appears in a bowler hat and an all-black ensemble. Neither character speaks in the scene.

The premiere also moves several of the series' storylines forward. Oscar van Rhijn marries Enid Turner in what is described as a lavender marriage.

Elsewhere, Marian (Louisa Jacobson) reunites with her former fiancé Larry Russell (Harry Richardson), and the two spend the night together at a hotel.

Peggy celebrates the release of her book, which impresses everyone except Elizabeth Kirkland (Phylicia Rashad).
